Our Approach
Our emergent curriculum allows for in-depth exploration of topics initiated by the children, supported by a collaborative community of students, teachers, and parents.
By creating hands-on, experiential learning experiences tailored to each child’s needs, skills, and qualities, we nurture a genuine enthusiasm for learning and help children develop critical thinking abilities, creativity and social skills in a supportive, interconnected environment.
Child Driven
To develop leadership, independence, and agency early on, our school encourages students to choose what they want to learn, how they want to learn it, and how long they want to spend on it. Our teachers help our children develop critical thinking, creativity, and social-emotional skills by giving them the tools to make choices for themselves.
Passion Powered
Learning at Passion Explorers is shaped by teachers, but designed by children because we embrace a child-centered, emergent curriculum that allows for deep exploration of curiosity. We’ll use our children’s passions to develop hands-on, experiential learning experiences tailored to each child’s needs.
Reggio Emilia Inspired
Our approach is based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy—we believe children learn best when they initiate and drive their own learning and exploration. By supporting their self-directed learning, and acting as guides, we help them understand their voice, actions, passions, and the world around them.
A Hundred Languages
Core to the Reggio philosophy, children learn through a “hundred languages”—they explore through their hands, their senses, their thoughts, their interactions, their expressions, their creations, and their feelings. There are so many different ways to see and engage with the world and we see our role to create space for children to build their understanding of the world in the various languages they speak.
